Winter Walking
There are so many beautiful spots in The Cairngorms and walking is often the best way to admire the scenery, even in winter. Whether you're a hardened Munro bagger or just enjoy a gentle stroll, there's something to suit everyone.
Two simple walks that we do frequently are the trail to the Green Lochan and the circular around Loch Morlich. The easiest place to park for both these walks is the Glenmore Forest Carpark (please note that there is a small charge to do so). There is also a café and toilet facilities here.
To walk to the Green Loch, leave the car park and head for the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, following the path all the way to An Lochan Uaine (Green Loch). It's an easy route with a moderate slopes in places, suitabel for all ages. The walk can be completed as an out and back or you can continue up to the Ryvoan Pass to make it a bit longer.
To walk the Loch Morlich Circular you need to cross to the other side of the road, or park at the Loch Morlich Beach Carpark. The circular is marked by red marker posts and the route is good tracks and paths. Further details of the route can be found at Walk Highlands. Both routes are approximately 6km and take roughly 1.5 hours to complete, longer of you have children with you.
