Sweet Tooth Heaven

If like me you have a very sweet tooth there are a few places in Aviemore that need to be on your to do list.

The obvious choice in the summer months is Miele’s Gelateria. You’ll be spoilt for choice!. They stock a huge range of home made gelato, including all your traditional favorites, as well as flavours like ferrero rocher, wild cherry, salted caramel, jammy dodger and cream egg. They’ve even had seasonal specials like full Christmas dinner!! I’m not sure about that one at all. If you’re not keen on ice cream, you’ll not be left out as they have hot drinks as well as large range of cannoli, Italian pastries, donuts and waffles with hot sauce. You’ll find them at 102 Grampian Road, just along the road from us.

The Kilted Fudge Company are even closer to The Shelter Stone, located within the post office. I popped in recently to get one bar and came out with four! Well, it was four for the price of three so I felt obliged! Again, the range of flavours in immense – from traditional, to slightly ‘out there’ fruit salad, there’s something for everyone. We really enjoyed the salted caramel flavour.

Last but not least is Young’s Auld Sweetie Shoppe (formerly Mr Simm’s). This is a childhood dream, with sweets covering every surface! They’ve got your traditional sweets in jars behind the counter, as well as pick and mix which they will (very) patiently bag up for you under direction of the little ones. To be honest, we don’t often get past the pick and mix, but they have loads of traditional sweets and lollies - you’re bound to find something you like.
