The best way to enjoy the beautiful Cairngorms is to just get out there and immerse yourself in the landscape. Hiring an SUP or kayak at Loch Morlich or Loch Insh and taking to the water is great fun. But we’d highly recommend going for a walk. Be it a leisurely stroll around a loch or a more strenuous hike up a munro, it’s guaranteed to make you feel closer to nature and refresh your mind.
Accessing the local cycle network is also really easy from The Shelter Stone. You can join two lovely paths not far from the house. The Aviemore to Boat of Garten stretch of the Speyside way is a great one for the kids. You can also cross under the railway line to join the Old Logging Way which takes you up to Glenmore and Loch Morlich.
A few of our favourite places are running family friendly events with an Easter theme for the little ones during April. Landmark are running an Easter competition so make sure to search for the golden eggs in the Bamboozeleum while you are there.
The Highland Wildlife Park will be hosting a fun range of Easter activities including face painting, egg painting and bunny mazes. Kids will be delighted to climb inside a replica polar bear den to see how they size up against some of the Parks most famous residents. They can also take on the new wildlife warrior trail. The park has received lottery funding to provide the macaques with Easter enrichment treats, so you might see large, brightly coloured papier-mâché Easter eggs, as well as coloured boiled eggs in their enclosure.
Happy Easter.
